Highlander Housing exists because UCR off-campus housing was too scattered, too stressful, and too easy to get wrong — especially for students doing it for the first time.
When UCR students search for housing, they find Facebook groups with no structure, Reddit posts from years ago, and Craigslist listings with questionable legitimacy. There's no organized, UCR-specific place to go.
Highlander Housing was built to change that. It started as a Discord server to centralize listings, educate students about how the process works, and give landlords a better audience than generic platforms.
Today it's grown to 1,900+ members and has helped 300+ students find housing for the 2026–2027 leasing season. The website is the next step: a public-facing platform to drive SEO traffic, build trust with parents, and give the community real infrastructure.
